Social studies test
Read the curriculum and practice for the test
The social studies test is based on a curriculum. You practice for the test by reading and discussing texts on various topics about Norway and the Norwegian society.
You need knowledge about Norwegian society
To pass the test in social studies, you must have knowledge of Norwegian society.
Those who participate in social studies training have the learning resource samfunnskunnskap.no as a basis for learning.
Everyone who participates in this training learns about the same topics. This is often referred to as the syllabus.
In the web resource samfunnskunnskap.no you will find texts that cover the syllabus for the social studies test. You can use this website regardless of whether you participate in the training or not.
The texts found on the web resource deal with topics such as:
- Education, skills and labour market
- Family, health and daily life
- Norway before and now
Practice for the test
You can practice on questions that are similar to the ones you get on the real test.
The sample test is not the same test as the one you will get when you take the social studies test. It does, however, give an indication of what the questions look like and how to respond to them on the computer.
The example questions are multiple choice questions (tasks with multiple answers you can choose from) and are available in several languages.
Take the sample test for the social studies test. (The first two pages on the sample test portal are in Norwegian. Click on the large link box with and arrow to continue. On the third page, choose your preferred language in the drop down selection. Once you have selected the preferred language, press the blue button marked "start prøven" to start the sample test.)
